Art History in Student Voices: Written by Students, for Students" is a collaborative student-written art history textbook featuring 200+ entries exploring why artworks were created, why they are important in their time, why they are innovative, and continue to shape our world today. The title For Students, by Students embodies the project's commitment to honoring student voices, supported by graphic design that is accessible, innovative, and intentionally crafted for student engagement. Loyal to the visual language of art history, the first volume presents thumbnail doors leading to what resemble themed exhibitions, each corresponding to one of ten themes that allow readers to trace ideas like spirituality and religion, politics and government, femininity, masculinity, love and marriage, morality, violence and war, and death and the afterlife across cultures and centuries. Inside these halls, the interface offers a curated, museum-style display of artworks that invites students to learn from one another. This textbook marks a unique crowdsourced moment in art education as an art history resource born from Miami Dade College student collaboration, curiosity, and a desire to make art history more accessible.
