The services offered by FLVC are an integral part of Florida’s education community. FLVC provides critical educational support services utilized by all public postsecondary institutions within the Florida College System (FCS) and the State University System (SUS), K-12 school districts, and technical colleges statewide.
Key among those services is the centralized, automated library system used by Florida’s 40 public colleges and universities, support services for statewide higher education distance learning, automated tools for college planning and online transfer options for students. FLVC’s centralized, shared-services model continues to return significant dividends for the state of Florida in the form of greater efficiency, value generation, cost-savings, and optimization of college/university staff, capital and time.
The shared services provided by FLVC saved the state of Florida $55.6 million in FY 2024-25.

FLVC Library Services operates the integrated library system used by all public college and university libraries statewide along with a shared catalog and a statewide collection of online journals, e-books, and other valuable e-resources. These products and services are available to assist nearly 1.3 million students, faculty, and staff across Florida.
Distance Learning and Student Services (DLSS) provides an array of innovative educational services for students, educators, and administrators in the sunshine state. DLSS operates several statewide services that impact the success of the state’s students. One of the more popular services is FloridaShines.
FloridaShines works with the state's public colleges and universities, K-12 school districts, technical colleges, and other partners to help students succeed in school and beyond. From the FloridaShines website, students can check their transcript, register for an online course, search academic libraries across the state, compare colleges and universities, and much more, all at no cost.
The Florida Virtual Campus was created in 2012 by the Florida Legislature, through the consolidation of four statewide organizations: the College Center for Library Automation (CCLA), the Florida Center for Library Automation (FCLA), the Florida Center for Advising and Academic Support (FCAAS), and the Florida Distance Learning Consortium (FDLC).
FLVC was managed by University of Florida from 2012-2014, and later by University of West Florida from 2015-2020.
In July 2020, FLVC was moved to a new host organization, the Northwest Regional Data Center at Florida State University. With this new alliance, FLVC continues to grow, innovate and create leading-edge educational tools and resources to help Florida’s students, teachers, counselors and administrators succeed.
