Dr. Victoria Brown is the Assistant Provost for the Center for elearning at Florida Atlantic University. She was appointed in 2013 to oversee online program and course development, online student support, and online student experience. She is also responsible for the vision of distance education and policy development. Under her leadership, distance learning has grown to 23% of the courses taken at FAU, improved the online student experience, trained over 50% of the faculty to teach for distance learning, implemented business practices in the management of course development, improved quality of courses delivered, and expanded the research and innovation opportunities in distance learning. Her research interest in distance education include professional development, course and program design, and academic integrity. She also continues to maintain a writing agenda in universal design for individuals of with special needs in online and metacognition in individuals with attention deficit disorders. Before her appointment as the Assistant Provost, she taught instructional technology and instructional design for Florida Atlantic University (2005 to present) and Barry University (2003- 2005).

Dr. Brown has serviced for varies organization in leadership positions. She held the office of vice-president of the Information Technology Council for the Society for Information Technology and Teacher Education; board member for the Florida Distance Learning Association; member of the Family, Infant, and Toddlers Interagency Coordinating Council; president of the Missouri Division of Learning Disabilities; executive board member of the Missouri Federation Council of Exceptional Children; and executive board member of Continental Academy. For her instructional design work in the non-for-profit sector, she received the Meritorious Service Medal from the Southeast Region Commander of the Civil Air Patrol. Through her work in distance education, she was awarded the Distance Educator of the Year for Higher Education by the Florida Distance Learning Association.

Dr. Brown received her doctorate in curriculum and education leadership from University of West Florida. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degree in special education from Central Missouri University.
